The method for determining the rational term of using transmission oils

 

Abstract:

University experts (Kyiv), specialized in friction and wear in machinery, has developed a method for determining the rational term of using transmission oils. It enables to analyze the changes in the thickness of the boundary lubrication layer and the friction factor over a long period of using transmission oils. The scientists are interested in cooperation with companies manufacturing and improving lubricants.

 

The description of the proposal:

The method implies determining the lubrication parameters of transmission oils (the thickness of the boundary lubrication layer (BLL) and the friction factor) in the state of their supply. It also implies oils drained from real units of vehicles at regular intervals when modeling clutch operation. The method enables to analyze graphical dependences of the above-mentioned parameters on the mileage of the vehicles under control (VUC).

 

Innovative aspects and benefits:

The existing methods for evaluating the quality of oils and various screening criteria do not always objectively determine the terms of changing oils. They also do not consider the impact of lubricating medium on the surface state of machine parts. Using this method resulted in the discovery that aging processes positively affect the properties of these oils. It indicates the possibility to prolong the operation period of these transmission oils. Considering qualitative indicators of the lubricant, it makes possible to conclude on the term of rational use of transmission oil of certain brand.
